Hannah Monsour
Actress and Poet
My greatest joy in life is creation and connection. Whether that be performing with a scene partner, writing a poem for a stranger, or dancing with my friends.
ABOUT
I am a Lebanese-American, full time actress and poet based in New York. I have stared in feature films, written thousands of poems for strangers, and co-host a comedy/poetry podcast called Poking Around. With a degree in creative writing and theater arts, I am uniquely talented in connection and story telling. Although perhaps best known for busking in central park with my typewriter, my greatest love has always been performance. I have aspirations of published poetry collections, self-made films, and a return to the theater.
ACTING
I first began performing as a young girl and never stopped. I have been in countless theater productions and appeared in multiple short films and features. Most notably, I stared in acclaimed indie film maker Joel Haver’s feature film, Hiccups. I’ve earned in a degree in theater arts and currently study at New York City’s Barrow Group at the professional level.
COMMISSION A POEM
A one of a kind poem written on my 1952 typewriter. Any prompt, any idea, any story. Serves as wonderful gift for a loved one, or as a special keepsake for yourself.
BOOK AN EVENT
Bring the live custom typewriter poetry into the event space. A wonderful and extra special addition to any wedding, baby shower, birthday party, corporate event, holiday gathering — you name it! Each guests walks away with their very own keepsake. Oh! And I also officiate weddings :)
LISTEN TO PODCAST
Co-hosted with my best friend Zoe Branch, the two of us explore the similarities between comedy and poetry. What makes a joke a joke? A poem a poem? What differentiates the two? Through a long form, conversational based examination, we try to answer these questions. Often moving between the profound and funny, we read poems, write poems, and laugh as the friends we are.
